Fabric Data Eng VS Code Extension vs Git Workflow - how am I supposed to work locally?

Hi all, I’m trying to set up a clean Git-based workflow for Fabric, but I’m running into friction with the Fabric Data Engineering VS Code extension. I'd like to use this extension since I understand this is how I can connect to OneLake and Fabric Compute from VS Code locally. Looking for advice from others who are more experienced with the Fabric Data Engineering VS Code extension.
